Garmin GPS 60 Review

Those that want a navigation system suitable for use in the rugged outdoors will find that the Garmin GPS 60 is the perfect solution. The Garmin GPS 60 is a handheld device that is large in size and which has a large and easy to read display that can even ward off the glare of the sun. It is also not as expensive as the more sophisticated navigators out on the market that are usually used for road trips.

The Garmin GPS 60 has a monochrome display and is waterproof, as well as lightweight. The size is compact and can be stowed away in pockets without a problem. The good part of this device is that it is reliable, accurate and easy to use. You will need batteries to run this GPS system, but that is actually an advantage for those outdoors in the wild, because you can just bring along spare batteries and always have your navigator working. The battery life of the Garmin GPS 60 is extremely long for a navigation device, being 28 hours.

There is 1 MB of internal memory that you can use for whatever points of interest you like or which are of use to a particular trip. The Garmin GPS 60 comes with a CD that has the points of interest saved on it and you have to then transfer those from your computer to the navigator. This can be done either through a serial or USB connection. There are maps of various cities around the world already loaded onto the Garmin GPS 60 and only what can be saved on the internal memory can be taken along with you. This is because there is not memory card slot with which you would be able to expand the memory with.

The fact that the Garmin GPS 60 comes with features that tell you the best times each day for hunting or fishing only goes to show that this device is for people who intend on being outdoors. There is also an outdoor calendar and maps with rivers, lakes and roads of your area. The Garmin GPS 60 also comes with a variety of games to pass the time away, such as Virtual Maze, Memory Race and Nibbons.
